The PEI BioAlliance promotes bioscience company careers on our Job Postings page and we encourage candidates to apply directly to the companies for those advertised opportunities.
However, on an ongoing basis, we also welcome job seekers to submit their resumés to be included in the PEI BioAlliance Online Resumé Library. We share the link to this library with all senior hiring managers of PEI bioscience companies.
If we see a resumé that is potentially a good match for any companies, we will give them a heads up. Employers reference the library as they look at their near future recruitment needs. New-to-PEI bioscience companies often refer to it as they identify potential key recruits. The library complements ongoing recruitment advertising.
We recommend that job seekers, including new graduates or those seeking summer employment, take advantage of this benefit, as it is another good way to get noticed.
In 2019, 355 jobs were advertised on the PEI BioAlliance website in career areas such as human health and nutrition, fish health, animal health and nutrition, human/animal health diagnostics, contract manufacturing services, and medical devices. That’s a jump from 210 jobs advertised in 2018 and 125 jobs in 2017. That’s why it important to spread to the good news of job growth and expand our talent networks.
Career categories include Scientist/Researcher, Quality Assurance/Control, Production, Business Administration, and student summer employment in an industry that has 60 bioscience companies employing over 1,800 people.
All those who send us their resumé are automatically added to our mailing list to receive e-news about careers as well as networking and social events.
Job seekers are also welcome to request a meeting (via telephone) to discuss their resumé and possible matches with bioscience opportunities. In advance of a meeting, we encourage job seekers to review the full list of bioscience companies and short-list those that are matched to their background and interest.
Most common types of positions advertised:
- Research Scientist
- Analytical Scientist/Chemist
- Formulation Scientist
- Research Associate/Technician
- Lab Technician
- Quality Assurance Specialist/Manager/Technician
- Quality Control Manager/Technician
- Pharmaceutical Process Engineer
- Production Associate/Technician

- Human Resources
Over the past year, the sheer volume of talent required has been a challenge. There was a spike in demand for production-related talent. Typically, production-related jobs have represented 40 percent of all annual postings, but over this past year, production jobs increased to 60 percent.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control positions have always been a challenge to fill as well as scientists with specialized knowledge. We know there is a shortage of finance/accounting and HR talent, a situation many Island companies are struggling to address.
As candidates review job postings, it is important for them to know that they should not be discouraged if they do not meet all the qualifications. The job description represents an ideal candidate which employers know that they will not find in all cases. Companies are willing to train candidates if they see a background of experience and education which shows they would have an aptitude for the role.
