The Mount in Charlottetown offers independent living, nursing care, and community care.
They are looking for volunteers to engage with the residents, who are seniors.
Volunteer opportunities
- Leading/assisting with regular activities
- Coordinating/assisting with group activities such as music or knitting
- Friendly one-on-one visits – reading and spending time with residents
- Behind the scenes duties, such as helping staff decorate
- Performing or entertaining
- Assisting with special in-house events or outings
Volunteer benefits

- Free meal during shifts that occur during a meal service

Bursary for high school students
The Mount is registered under the PEI Community Service Bursary Program. Come help pay for your tuition and have some fun, develop valuable skills, and do fulfilling and meaningful work along the way!
The bursary program offers $10 for each hour volunteered between the start of grade 10 and end of grade 12, and can be accumulated up to $1,500. All PEI residents in grade 10, 11, and 12 who are a Canadian or a Permanent Resident are eligible for the Community Service Bursary. Find more information HERE.

Monetary awards for UPEI student volunteers
UPEI Experiential Education encourages students to sign up for an Afternoon of Service with residents of the Mount.
UPEI is offering five awards of $500 each to selected UPEI students who demonstrate exceptional volunteer engagement at The Mount. Applications are open from January 31 to February 24. Applicants will be asked to submit a one-page impact statement and a summary of their hours spent at The Mount.
