In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UPEI Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development has held numerous online professional development courses over the past two months, and will continue to adapt and launch virtual learning opportunities for the months ahead.
With social distancing still in effect, we will continue to offer online learning for the foreseeable future. We are committed to supporting life-long learning, professional education, and career development through our offerings.
Summer and early fall sessions
Writing Strategically – July 10, 13 and 14 (2 hours each day) Facilitated by Robin Sutherland. Explore the demands and challenges of professional writing, and provide strategies to write with diplomacy, tact, and finesse.
Error-Free Writing – August 7, 10 and 11 (2 hours each day) Facilitated by Robin Sutherland. Review key grammatical rules, emphasize the importance of developing your own voice as a writer, and provide helpful proof-reading strategies to identify and correct errors and weaknesses in your own writing.
Effective Teams – Starting August 18 in Charlottetown and August 25 in Summerside (exact dates and time TBA) Facilitated by Wendy MacIntyre. Learn how dynamic productive teams can bring together knowledge, skills, experience and perspectives of a wide range of people to solve multifaceted problems, make good decisions and deliver effective solutions.
Communicating as a Leader – Starting September 22 in Charlottetown and September 29 in Summerside (exact dates and time TBA) Facilitated by Elizabeth Pederson.
As a leader in the workplace, effective communication practices and tools can help you and your employees clarify expectations, coordinate work, and facilitate learning and decision making.
Managing Conflict in the Workplace – Starting September 23 in Charlottetown and September 30th in Summerside (exact dates and time TBA) Facilitated by Wendy MacIntyre.
As a new or aspiring manager, resolving conflict in your work team can be one of the most daunting tasks. How do you recognize when conflict is happening, how do you prevent it, and what is the manager’s role? This course provides tools and strategies for managing workplace conflict.
