Trade HERizons is a career exploration and college preparation program focused on exposure to trade and technology careers, enhancing essential skills, career exploration, and personal development.
Due to COVID-19, the spring 2020 session of Trade HERizons had to end early. While the graduation ceremony was cancelled, Natalie Jameson, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, still provided the encouraging remarks below.
In lieu of a formal graduation ceremony for our 2020 Trade HERizons cohort, we wanted to share remarks from Minister Jameson and highlight this year’s participants.
“Congratulations to all of you for finishing this valuable program. I’m sorry that your graduation can’t take place in person due to the COVID-19 crisis, but today I don’t want to focus on the now – I want to focus on what’s in store for you.
“Programs such as Trade HERizons have helped many women find their passion and map out their futures. You are part of an alumni who have gone on to achieve really great things. The Trade HERizons program has given you the skills and knowledge you need to take the next steps into the workforce.
“I know that these lessons will serve you well in the next leg of your journey. And even though you won’t be together every day, you will still have each other for support as you continue on. And as we’re learning, supports can range from a text, a quick phone call, or a video chat.
“I encourage you to keep the connections that you made here. These connections are one of the many assets you’ve accessed through this program. Through Trade HERizons, you have new skills, new networks, and a heightened awareness of what you can achieve. I sincerely wish you the best as you move on, and I look forward to hearing about your future accomplishments.”
