Employment in security ramps up in the summer
by Stacy Dunn
APPS Integrated Security Solutions operates year-round employing uniformed officers and loss prevention officers. The sister company TOURSEC has been in operation for over 15 years, providing uniformed security to festivals and events across Atlantic Canada.
“Event security is our core service,” says Chrystle Wilson, Operations Manager PEI. “We cover major concerts, festivals, and so much more. TOURSEC can service all sizes and types of events, from intimate gatherings to events with 100,000 in attendance.”
Hiring needs
The company currently has over 100 casual staff and is looking to hire 50 to 70 people for the 2023 summer season.
“There are many opportunities within our company. Possible positions include screening, access control, age of majority screening, crowd control, stage pit crew, and special response teams. We have many different positions that require a variety of skill sets.”
Chrystle says due to the nature of the business, most positions are difficult to fill. “We find job seekers are hesitant to apply because they do not have experience in our field.
“We don’t mind seeing fresh faces apply. We train all staff to give them the tools and confidence needed to get the job done. As long as they are willing to learn, anything is possible.”
