SkillsPEI offers programs and services for job seekers, employers and organizations. SkillsPEI provides assistance to help unemployed individuals prepare for and find employment.

Programs for job seekers: Training PEI, Career Connect, Employ PEI, Self Employ PEI, Work Experience PEI, Graduate Mentorship program

Programs for employers: Employ PEI, Workplace Skills Training, Graduate Mentorship program, Post-Secondary program, Digital Skills 4 Youth PEI

Programs for organizations: Workforce Development projects, Work Experience PEI, Employment Assistance Services, Labour Market Partnerships

New programs

COVID-19 Support for Essential Workers earning $3,000/month or less is intended to provide a temporary wage top-up to essential workers employed during the PEI Public Health State of Emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible employees earning $3,000 per month or less will receive a one-time payment of $1,000, administered through their employer.

Team Food Island is a is a summer employment bursary program funded by the Government of Prince Edward Island and administered by the Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture. The program is designed to provide either a $1,000 or $2,000 bursary to students working in seafood, aquaculture and agriculture industries over the summer and who will be returning to secondary and post-secondary school in the fall.

Employers and students can visit Team Seafood at https://teamseafood.ca and Farm Team at https://peifarmteam.ca for more information and to complete application forms.

The Post-Secondary Student Program is a summer employment program funded by the Government of Prince Edward Island and administered by the Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture. The program is designed to create jobs for post-secondary students by providing a financial incentive to Island employers to provide students with a valuable work experience, preferably related to the student’s field of study.

Once employer applications are approved, available positions will be posted for your review on WorkPEI.ca. In the interim, employers and job seekers are encouraged to create a WorkPEI account to assist in the recruitment, application and hiring processes.

Digital Skills 4 Youth PEI is a new internship opportunity for Island youth delivered by the Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture with funding support from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). The program will focus on connecting recent graduates to meaningful employment and giving them the skills to succeed in the digital economy.

Workplace Skills Training is a program developed for employers to train new or existing employees to develop their skills and align with needs of the business. The employer determines the type of training and who will participate. SkillsPEI can contribute up to 50% of the direct training costs. You will be required to contribute the remaining 50%. At the end of the training, the employee should have developed skills to meet the demands of today’s economy.
