March 1, 2021 – Government of PEI: The province is launching supports to help Islanders get through the latest modified red level restricted measures related to COVID-19. The PEI Emergency Payment for Workers is a $500 payment for workers and self-employed Islanders who have completely lost their income or will have their hours reduced by at least 12 hours a week from February 28 to March 14, 2021.“These are very difficult days for many Islanders,” says Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture Minister Matthew MacKay.
“Our government has been with Islanders every step of the way during this pandemic and we continue to support you. We are with you and we will get through this together.”
The province is also relaunching the PEI Impacted Worker Grocery Card Program. These $100 grocery gift cards are for workers laid off between February 28 and March 14, 2021. The employer must complete the application form for the program then distribute the cards to affected employees.
