submitted by Devon Broome, Employment Service Manager with PEI Council of People with Disabilities (PEICOD)
PEICOD provides employment services to people with disabilities. This includes individuals who have limitations related to physical mobility and/or learning. Clients are not required to have a diagnosis.
The organization offers services to those entering or returning to the workforce, changing careers, or pursuing education and training opportunities.
PEICOD also supports clients through in-house training, workshops, job clubs, transition planning, direct marketing, and employment maintenance, and also administers the [email protected] wage subsidy program.
What has been the impact of COVID-19 on the organization?
Our offices have been closed, and all staff were working from home. Our plan is to open to the public on June 8, provided we receive our masks, sanitizers, etc.
Many clients report they are ready to take on the new normal, which is a true testament to the resilient, creative, and innovative character of people with disabilities. If employers are looking to hire, this is definitely the talent pool you want to be looking at.
