Opportunities to work with children in centres across PEI

December 9, 2024

by Heidi Riley

CHANCES (Caring, Helping, And Nurturing Children Every Step) is a non-profit, charitable organization that exists to provide a range of child development and parent support services to children from 0 to 11 years and their families, particularly those experiencing additional life challenges.

CHANCES Smart Start (Early Learning Programs) and Smart Play (School Aged Programs) are located Island-wide to reach and help as many families as they can.

Staff job titles

About 250 people are employed with the organization. Job titles include:

  • Early Childhood Educators
  • Youth Educators
  • Supervisors
  • Directors
  • Inclusive Support Workers
  • Family Program Workers
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Office Administration

Hiring needs

CHANCES is looking for Inclusive Support Workers to join their Smart Play School-Aged team, as well as casual Support Workers to fill a variety of roles in both Smart Start (Early Years) and Smart Play (School-Aged) Programming.

“Casuals working on-call fill a very important role in the effective operation of all childcare programs,” says Melody van Omme, Office Manager. “Prospective employees who can’t work a set schedule but are available certain days of the week or are willing to fill in when regular staff are sick are essential.”

Michelle Dalton, Senior Operations Coordinator, says these types of positions are great for post-secondary students. “Because they are part-time in nature, the flexibility offered by these jobs can work well and fit into the schedules of college and university students.”

If you are interested in working with the Smart Play program (with school-age children) at CHANCES, submit your resumé and cover letter to Shawna Butler, Smart Play Manager, at smartplaymanager@chancesfamily.ca

To apply for other positions with CHANCES, submit your resumé and cover letter to Shawna Clark, Program Administrator, at shawnaclark@chancesfamily.ca
