The Prince Edward Island Fishermen’s Association recently hosted a marine trade show in conjunction with their annual general meeting and conference. The trade show attracted 75 exhibitors from across the Maritimes, and more than 1,000 people visited the trade show in Charlottetown.

Master Marine Controls specializes in custom-made marine panels, engine dash plates, switch gear, and Kohler generators.
“We don’t have strong hiring needs,” says Chad Gaudet. “However, we offer on-the-job training to apprentices and students in the Holland College Industrial Electrical Technology program, which could lead to full-time employment.
“At the moment, we employ five apprentices and three Red Seal electricians and hire as needed at Gaudet’s Electrical Services Ltd.”
Gaudet’s Electrical Services Ltd. has served clients since 1970. Chad has worked in the family business since 1992 and started MMC in 2001 as a part-time business. As of 2009, Chad has been the sole owner of both companies.

Hydraulic Power Plus 2014 Inc., Cardigan
The company has served the fishing, farming, and heavy equipment industry for four years, and is a commercial and industrial equipment and marine supplier. Daryl Bourgeois has 20 years of experience in the hydraulic industry.
“We currently have four staff,” says Sheila Bourgeois. “We are busy and constantly growing the business, which serves the Maritime region.
“When hiring, we look for people who are able-bodied, self-motivated, able to take direction, and are mechanically inclined. We are willing to train staff to do hydraulic repairs.

White’s Fabrication, Commercial Cross Road near Montague
Co-owners and brothers Adam and Andy White have worked in the welding and fabrication trade for years. In 2015, they started their own company, with only themselves and a bookkeeper.
In the past four years, they have grown exponentially, hiring five more employees, hosting OJT students, and a building expansion. They primarily serve the fishing industry throughout the Maritimes, and provide an array of services to other industries, businesses, and home owners.
