Locally made skincare business develops hand cream for essential workers

June 20, 2020

Jaxon NaturalsRenée Durant, from Abram-Village has become extra creative to make sure her business survives during the pandemic.

She is the owner of Jaxon Naturals, a line of all-natural skincare products, including body butter, face moisturizer, bum balm (diaper cream), body wash, and more.

“My biggest seller is a new product called Nurture Balm,” says Renée.  “It combines the healing power of calendula with the moisturizing power of my body butter.  Essential Workers who wash their hands endlessly are shouting the praises of this one.

“With no added scent, my products can be used by people who work in hospitals, senior care facilities, and other places where scented products are banned.”

Renée started making products seven years ago when her son was born.  When she and her husband moved back home to PEI from Alberta a little over a year ago, she decided to go into business.

“COVID-19 has absolutely affected my business,” says Renée.  She has had to cancel promotional events and change her expansion plans.  She now offers contactless pickup or delivery and is focusing on wholesale sales. Customers can purchase products through the website and pick up the next day if they are local. Deliveries are offered as well.

She also rebranded the product line and hired Lisa Enman Photography to create product marketing photos.

“Most of my products are carried by Little Black Dress Co. in Summerside.  Soon my products will be listed on Shop PEI as well. It’s all about meeting the needs of customers to remain in business.”
