For parents of children with a diagnosed or undiagnosed learning disability, LDAPEI offers advice and support, as well as reading, math remediation programs, and one-on-one support with curriculum.
The Island Reader Program: Tutors work one-on-one to deliver a reading and spelling program to students with reading disabilities or difficulties. Students learn foundational skills with an Orton-Gillingham influenced program.
The JUMP Math Program: Tutors deliver a math program in support of current curriculum to small groups of up to four students. The tutor makes the learning process fun while developing the confidence of each student.
Island Reader program sessions cost $25 per hour. Math is $10 per hour for each student in a small group. One-on-one sessions are $25 per hour. Tutoring is offered in 10-week blocks. Parents who are not able to pay for their child to be in the Island Reader program should contact LDAPEI. Subsidies of up to 50 percent may be available.
The same programs are available for adults with a diagnosed or undiagnosed learning disability. The association offers information and advice about learning disabilities.
