A.C. McCardle Home Builders – Hiring practices

May 8, 2020

Contact Company

AC McCardle Construction
Aaron McCardle, Owner.

A.C. McCardle Home Builders in Cornwall specializes in turn-key design and construction of new homes and cottages, renovations, and project management services across PEI.  Aaron McCardle’s father started the business 37 years ago.  Aaron worked alongside his father and took over the business in 2010.

“Even with the shutdown due to COVID-19, I am still working on one building project,” says Aaron.  “With the rules around social distancing, I schedule the subcontractors so that only one or two trades people are on site at the same time.

“Other clients would like me to start on their home builds, but unfortunately no new building permits are being issued at this time.  As soon as permits are issued again, we will be in a panic to get started, and we will need more workers.”

At present, Aaron has one Labourer working for him, and subcontracts services such as roofing, plumbing, and electrical work.  As his business is growing, Aaron is looking to hire one or two Carpenters, preferably Red Seal.  “I have been relying on subcontracted Carpenters, but I would rather have my own employees, so that they are ready to work when I need them.

“I use many Carpenters who do not have their Red Seal, as long as they have experience, know how to build a house, and are professional and punctual.”

“I worked with women carpenters when I was part of a large commercial outfit, and I just clicked with them.  They were good at their jobs.

“I am also looking for a part-time Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper to help organize HST payments, invoices, and receipts.”

To apply, call Aaron McCardle at 902-940-1469 or email a resumé to [email protected].  Visit www.homebuilderspei.ca.
