The UPEI Career and Summer Job Fair is an annual event organized by UPEI Career Services.
“This year, we hosted over 20 employers in multiple sectors,” says Jo Cullen, Career Services Counsellor. “Students and participants report that they were able to make many meaningful connections, which helps students transition into the workforce.”

Investors Group Financial Services Inc. — 18 Queen St, Charlottetown
Jobs: Consultant and Associate Consultant, full-time, year-round.
Investors Group offers financial planning services to families, individuals, and businesses.
“We are seeking people who are great at establishing and managing relationships,” says Jamie Currie. “Our people come from a wide variety of occupational backgrounds, such as accountants, school principals, students, bankers etc. and they transfer nicely to role of financial planning.”
There is an initial aptitude test, and from there candidates need to earn their Mutual Fund and Insurance license for PEI, and then all the training is in-house. The position is commission-based with unlimited earning potential. However for the first two years, there is an attractive income enhancement program.
CONTAX — Atlantic Technology Centre, Charlottetown
Jobs: on-going recruitment for Consultant positions
As a full-service SAP consulting firm, CONTAX provides a wide range of consulting services, including project management, functional and technical consulting, training, and change management.
Currently, there are seven employees at the PEI location, and they are looking to double that number by the end of the year. Employees have a diverse background of skills, many from university and college programs such as business, computer science, and engineering.
“The company looks for highly intellectual problem solving individuals with high-level communication skills,” says Gregory Bradley.
“Because our work is so specialized, we are looking to train people who have the right aptitude,” says Donald MacFadzen-Reid. “We are looking for people who want to work with the company for the long-term.”
Training new staff takes up to a year. Courses are taken online, and new staff also job shadow existing staff. Eventually, trainees transition to working more independently.

BDO Canada LLP — Charlottetown and Summerside
Jobs: “BDO is always looking for new people to join our team,” says Kelsie Montgomery. “We are currently recruiting for Senior Accountants and Technicians to join our Charlottetown team.”
BDO is an international accounting firm with offices in Charlottetown and Summerside. They hire students right out of post-secondary school who are interested in pursuing careers as Chartered Professional Accountants, which is a two-year process through the CPA Atlantic School of Business, or as Accounting Technicians.
GoodLife Fitness — Charlottetown - opening the end of June
Jobs: Full-time Sales, part-time Customer Service, full-time Personal Trainers
The company has over 350 fitness clubs and gym locations across the country.
“We look for a passion for fitness and a willingness to learn, and we can teach the rest of the skill set,” says Carly Phillips. Hiring for PEI is at the beginning stage, and will be on-going throughout the year.
3 Points Aviation — 91 Watts Avenue, West Royalty Business Park
Jobs: Engineers, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers with a M2 certification, CNC Programmers, and Manual Machinists.
3 Points Aviation is a Transport Canada approved facility which manufactures, repairs, and overhauls aircraft components. It also has a research and development arm which designs and produces prototype parts. The company’s main focus is on the Dash-8 aircraft.
“We are expanding our Charlottetown facility to be a 24/7 operation, so we are presently recruiting across the country for skilled trades people,” says Dianne Griffin. “We currently have 65 staff, and over the next six to eight months, we plan to add another 15 to 20 employees.”
EMCO Corporation — 15 Riverside Dr. Charlottetown
Job: Accepting applications year-round for the Management Development Program
EMCO is a leading Canadian plumbing, HVAC, waterworks and industrial wholesale distribution company.
“We hire university graduates who take a three to four-year Management Development Program,” says George Watts, Manager. This is a leadership program which eventually leads to running an EMCO Profit Centre.
“While in the program, trainees relocate at least three times in Atlantic Canada. This exposes trainees to various management styles, they become familiar with the many products and services, and grow their network.”
