Stephanie Perreault-Bittner is a Graphic and Web Designer with more than nine years of experience.
She owns Summer Street Creative in Charlottetown, working solo and occasionally hiring contractors.
In the past, she has coached startups at the Charlottetown Startup Zone as a brand specialist. “When I was at the Startup Zone, I saw many people starting their own business who were overwhelmed and burned out from doing it all on their own. I told them they need to fill their toolbox with a variety of experts and try to figure out self-care.
“As well, it is helpful to have conversations with other entrepreneurs and listen to podcasts to learn more from other small business owners and to develop support systems.
“Going on social media is the best thing you can do for your business. Find out who your social media audience is and promote your business. Social media is a connector, and you can talk to clients from all over the world.
“When I came to the Island, I didn’t know anyone. Now I have business communities to connect with. I have learned so much from doing podcasts and sharing with other local entrepreneurs.
“There are a lot of supports for people wanting to start or expand their business,” says Stephanie. “It’s important to seek out and take advantage of grants and funding available through various government organizations and check out local credit unions.”
