Our Family Traditions is a new family restaurant in Tignish. It is built at the same location as the previous Cousin’s Restaurant.
Owner Bonnie Gaudet is very excited about offering home cooked meals, which will include many family recipes and traditions. “We plan to have daily specials including breakfast on a bun all day,” says Bonnie. “Customers can order ahead and pick up using the drive thru at their convenience. We will also open an ice cream parlour in the spring of 2018.”
The restaurant is licensed and has seating for up to 60. An overflow area which can be used for private functions has seating for up to 50. “This newly designed space will be perfect for small banquets, meetings, Christmas parties, and other functions.”
Bonnie has a strong background in business. She has a diploma in Accounting Technology from Holland College and has owned Bonnie’s Bookkeeping for many years. She has also worked in the fishing industry with her husband Kenneth since 1990.
Bonnie says the idea of opening the new business and expanding her business skills and knowledge was something she had always dreamt about. After speaking to family members and the two Head Cooks, she embarked in this new and exciting adventure, and contracted Perry’s Construction Ltd. to make it a reality.
Head Cooks Linda Wells and Sheila Bernard walk through the spacious kitchen area with pride and excitement. “This is a great work space,” says Linda “Everything is new and up to date,” says Sheila. Linda and Sheila have a wide variety of knowledge and experience in the cooking/restaurant field.
“We will be open year-round,” says Bonnie. “We have been receiving excellent feedback.” Bonnie also mentions that she is happy to be able to offer employment in the area and has received strong support from the community of Tignish.
Hiring will be on-going. Bonnie says they are presently seeking to hire full-time and part-time staff for the following positions:
