New restaurant hiring for a variety of positions

May 24, 2023

by Ethan Paquet

Turkey lovers will soon be flocking to Turkey Tavern, a unique restaurant opening in Cavendish.

“All our food is turkey-based,” says Rob Gillis, Co-Owner. “We have turkey dinners, turkey salads, turkey pot pies, turkey sandwiches, and much more. It’s something that is traditionally home-cooked, and it’s a very hearty base for us to build on.”

Hiring needs

They currently employ six staff members and are looking to hire at least nine more before they open in June, he says. “We’re hiring in all positions, from Dishwashers to Servers, Cooks, Hosts and Hostesses.”

Wages start at about $16 to $20 per hour, based on experience. “We are very competitive in the job market. Any background experience in the position you are applying for would be appreciated, and we would grade the pay based on that. We are also willing to provide on-the-job training.”

Other skills and abilities that can help someone stand out during the application process include a willingness to work flexible hours, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, having a team-oriented mindset, and a knowledge of food and beverage health and safety guidelines, Rob says.

How to apply

Current job listings can be found online at WorkPEI. Applicants can also reach out directly through email. “My advice is just to come give us a try. It’s OK if you don’t have all the experience, we are willing to train you.”
