Mel’s has just opened their seventh location, which is in Summerside. They will need up to 30 staff. Hiring is on-going. General Manager Jeff Doucette oversees all locations.

Jobs: Convenience Store Manager, Housekeepers, Servers, Water and Waste Treatment Technician, and Plumber.

The Miscouche Villa – Community Care & Assisted Living Facility
Jobs: Caregivers and Housekeeper
This is a 20-bed licensed care facility with a potential expansion of 10 more beds in the near future.
There are lots of job opportunities. Grade 12 or GED is required, and all training is provided on location.
“Our main concern is how people interact with the residents,” says Cynthia Allaire. “Basic care required includes assistance with getting dressed, bathing, and toileting needs.”
There are three eight-hour shifts: day, evening, and overnight. Kitchen staff work 12 hour shifts; two days on and two days off.

Funky Finger Productions Inc. – Holman Centre, Summerside
Jobs: Programmers and Artists to work on video games and Apps. Work is full-time, and year-round.
This company develops video games and applications for iOS and Android devices. There are five people on staff.
“We are looking to increase our staff with more people with the ability and passion for the work,” says Andy Roberts. “It is not all about educational background. If people have a natural gift and a willingness to learn, we want to talk with them.”

Atlantic Beef Products – Borden-Carleton
Jobs: Meat Cutters, Shipping and Receiving, and Power Engineer.
About 100 people work at the plant, and hiring is on-going. “We look for people who are interested and able to be flexible to perform various job duties and work together as a team,” says Diane Thibeault. “Many of the jobs involve standing for long periods.”

IO Solutions Call Center Inc. – Bloomfield - opening in Summerside in June, 2016.
Jobs: 150 Customer Service Representatives for the Summerside location.
Bilingual staff will also be hired for this job. About 110 employees work year-round at the Bloomfield location. There will be 150 jobs to fill at the Summerside location. Training for the Summerside location will take place in Bloomfield. Medical benefits are provided.
The call center consistently hires new people to join their team. “Basic computer skills are required and customer service experience is a plus but not necessary,” says Michael Bernard.

Mrs. Dunster’s – Borden-Carleton Industrial Park
Jobs: Production Line Workers.
Employment is full-time, year-round, and is shift work.
The new owners plan to eventually have the plant operational seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
The bakery has been in operation for 10 years, and has been under the Mrs. Dunster’s brand since September 2015. There are 26 staff.
Sales are projected to expand in May, and more staff will be needed. “We have just expanded to Sobeys stores in New Brunswick, and soon we will be in Loblaws, Walmart, and stores in Maine as well,” says Rosalyn Hyslop.
