Construction Association of PEI

Construction Association of PEI (CAPEI) continues to update their website www.IslandBuilder.ca which features a job board and a list of programs for employers and job seekers. The HR Manager will meet with construction businesses, post open positions for them, and meet with job seekers.

Island Builder-Team Construction is a program that helps unemployed Islanders who fall within the parameters of the program receive skills training and potentially find employment in the construction industry.

For more information, call 902-368-3303.
Visit www.capei.ca and www.IslandBuilder.ca.

Funded by the Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture through the Canada-PEI Labour Market Agreements.

CAPEI Youth in Trades

CAPEI Youth in Trades is sponsored by the Construction Association of PEI and is funded in part by the Government of Canada. The program, which is held in Charlottetown and in Summerside, includes 30 hours per week for eight weeks of employability skills, safety training, and hands-on projects in the classroom.

Participants complete small hands-on projects involving various trades at the Construction Training Centre. They are paid minimum wage (not insurable) for the classroom portion of the program. They also receive a 14-week paid entry-level work placement in the construction industry. Hours are insurable and the wage is set by the employer.

Participant must be 16 to 30 years old, out of school, or working 20 hours or less a week. Certifications provided for Safety Training. For more information, check the CAPEI website at www.capei.ca or call 902-394-3361.

This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy.
