College to expand enrolment in Carpentry program

April 25, 2023 – Holland College: Holland College has announced that it will increase the number of students in its Carpentry program by twelve seats for this coming September.

Prince Edward Island’s population growth, due to immigration, has led to record low vacancy levels across the province. This, coupled with skilled labour shortages, and expanded investments in housing incentives for developers, has created a significant gap in the number of workers required in the construction sector.

“The impetus to increase seats in our Carpentry program is a direct response to calls from industry and government to look at ways of attracting more skilled workers to our construction sector,” said Holland College President, Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald.

“Our Carpentry program has historically had strong enrolment numbers so we feel confident that these additional seats can be filled.”
