SFX Transport (Seafood Express) specializes in temperature-controlled shipping between Canada and the United States. Located in Charlottetown, this family-owned company has been transporting goods throughout North America for 46 years.
They currently employ about 130 staff, including Drivers and Office Workers, and are hiring for several roles. “We are looking for Long-Haul Truck Drivers, Maintenance Technicians, and a Safety Compliance Coordinator,” says Marlene Pearce, HR Supervisor.
Long Haul Truck Drivers are responsible for driving temperature-controlled trailers across Canada and the United States. The minimum qualifications include a current Class 1 License, a clean driver’s abstract, and at least one year of experience. Drivers also need a United States work visa. “Drivers are paid by the mile. Our rates are based on experience and range from 46 cents to 52 cents per mile.”
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for resolving major and minor mechanical problems, performing inspections and routine maintenance, repairing and adjusting mechanical components, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. “For this position, we are seeking someone with two years of experience working with diesel motors. We need someone who pays attention to detail and is not afraid to ask questions or get their hands dirty.”
The Safety Compliance Coordinator is responsible for a wide variety of duties, including accident resolution, conducting reviews, ensuring safety protocols are being followed, and more. “The pay for this position is between $24 and $26 per hour to start, and we are looking for someone with a background in insurance. The ideal candidate would need good organizational skills, be self-motivated, and possess attention to detail.”
Open positions can be found online through job boards, by visiting the company website, or on social media.
Those looking to stand out should have an organized resumé and cover letter, Marlene says. “When you apply, put your skills up front. Show me what skills you have that make you a good fit for the job you are applying for.”
