Jobs: 10 to 15 long-haul Truck Drivers
Bulk Carriers (P.E.I.) Limited carries refrigerated products throughout North America. They currently have about 80 trucks on the road.
“For a number of years now, it has been hard to find qualified long-haul drivers wanting to drive in the United States and Canada,” says Mike Schut.
“Our shortest runs are five days, and our longest runs are as long the driver wants to be on the road.
“Drivers can earn between $45,000 and $65,000 per year. It all depends on how many miles you drive, and how long you want to be home.
“Applicants need to have their Class 1 license, an acceptable driver’s abstract, a clear criminal record, and hold a valid passport or a fast card, which is a US Border Protection identification card. We also like to see a minimum of four years of driving experience, and if possible, a tractor-trailer driving course.”
Bulk Carriers will take drivers straight out of JVI or a similar commercial driving school, to do their compulsory 100 hours of coaching with an experienced driver, with the intent of hiring them at the end of that time.
