A day in the life at Career Development Services (CDS)

November 14, 2022

Submitted by Chris Doiron, Career Counsellor, and Barb Goss, Career Development Practitioner

CDS was fortunate to host two students from East Wiltshire Intermediate School for “Take your Child to Work Day” as part of November’s Career Month.

During the morning, the students met with various Career Counsellors to discuss a potential career in the field of counselling and to explore other careers. Both students completed exercises and career assessments to promote continued discussions and reflection about their potential future career options.

In the afternoon, the students met with Career Development Practitioners. They reviewed labour market information related to their fields of interest, learned more about the role of Career Development Practitioners, and discussed strategies for developing their own resumés.

Throughout the day, our CDS administrators helped the students learn about a day in the life of an Administrative Assistant.

Overall, CDS was thrilled to host the students and be a part of their ever-evolving career journey. We look forward to doing it again next year!
